At Sheriff Hutton Primary School we value the opinions and talents of all our children. We have several active Councils, voted for by the children and they are involved in many aspects of school life.
We believe
From Reception to Year 6, children are elected by their class to represent them. At regular meetings they discuss issues that concern the children.
Elected representatives from each year group meet with our school cook to discuss the menus and options available for the children to choose a healthy diet.
A group of children who have a keen interest in our environment meet regularly, they want to encourage environmentally friendly practices throughout the school.
Children from across the school meet to discuss how to engage more children in a range of sporting activities. They wish to promote healthy lifestyles for all of our children and adults.
Two members of our school who support Mrs Stell with termly health and safety inspections. They ensure the first aid kit is on the playground for every playtime / lunchtime.
Children from KS2 lead assemblies and provide support for their peers around the issue of emotional well-being.
They work closely with Mrs Stell and the class teachers to ensure equality for all members of our school community.
Our councils distribute a termly newsletter to all members of our school community.
